Heiland Paper Flasher

Contrast control by flashing paper.

Please note: this is an add-on for the Heiland Splitgrade system.

With Paper Flasher you can control high negative contrast easily. You can enhance highlight detail of high contrast negatives without changing the shadows considerably.

Paper Flasher is installed close to the lens or on a lens cap. It is connected to the Splitgrade system with an adapter. Now you can flash the paper in some areas or the complete paper without removing the negative from the enlarger.
Or you add a black border around your image by covering the image with a mask.

The green light ensitizes the paper in the highlights. You pre-expose the paper shortly before the point it shows visible details in the highlights. To find this exposure time, you can use the built-in test strip mode in the Splitgrade system.

The following main exposure generates quickly visible detail in the highlights without the need of extensive burning.
