Spur Acurol can be diluted very highly (1+50 - 1+125). It offers very high sharpness, fine grain and tonality with a high plasticity of the negative.
Very long shelf-life of the concentrate, very economic, maximal flexibility of the negative impression and good push features make this developer Spur's best allrounder.

Acurol N is formulated for highest sharpness and optimal tonality. The result can be changed by varying dilution and agitation (similar to Rodinal/Adonal/R09/ APH 09). The suggested developing times are start times for the beginner and give very good results. The experienced user can change them to get the desired results.

This developer reacts very strongly to agitation. At low dilution (1+25 to 1+50), the agitation rhythm and developing time should be kept precisely.

The higher the dilution and the less the agitation, the higher the acutance (Eberhard effect) and plasticity will be. If the time between agitation is longer than 5 min, the grain becomes bigger. Higher contrast can be achieved with longer developing time or more agitation.

The developing times are for 135 film (35mm). For 120 film the developing time has to be longer or more agitation has to be done if the dilution is high (higher than 1+50). Rule of thumb is to double the agitation (2 inversions instead of 1 for example) for 120 film and to triple it for sheet film.

Temperature:
The times are for 20°C. This is the fill-in temperature. The temperature has not to be precisely 20°C during the developing process if the process happens at normal room temperature.

Water:
It is recommended to use demineralized water. If you use hard water from the tab, the developing times might be longer.

Shelf life:
The unopened bottles can be kept for 3-4 years. The colour will change to dark brown, but that does not have any influence on the activity of the developer.
